Right To Rent - New Legislation coming soon.

‘Right to Rent’ legislation came into effect from December 2014. Initially applying to West Midland landlords, the new law means that landlords must be sure they are not renting to illegal migrants; or face a penalty of up to £3,000. Although a controversial issue within the private rented sector (PRS), a definite advantage is that landlords are reminded of the importance of thorough tenant referencing checks. With no specific date available yet, this legislation is thought to take effect on a national scale from the 1st February 2016.
We at Brighton Homes have already started to get Passports verified and current address checks carried out by a reputable verification service. This is in addition to our normal stricked referencing process. To find out more on how we protect you, the landlord please call us on 01273 672 333 or visit our website for more details
